Detailed Description

Arduino I/R Reflective Switch Module
This module uses a infrared sensor containing an emitter along with a detector to sense objects or surfaces. The I/R receiver is connected to a LM393 voltage comparator with adjustable sensitivity control (R6). Module has a LED indicator that turns on when it receives a reflection from the IR emitter. The output can be connected directly to a micro-controller I/O port. Ideal for line following robots, collision avoidance & counting passing objects.
Power: 3.3V to 5VDC
Supply Current: < 40mA (LED off)
Sense Range: 10-30+cm Depending on reflectiveness of object
Sense Angle: ~ 20deg.
Output: Digital TTL Open Collector Current sink 20mA
3 Pin .1in. Pitch Header for Power & Output
L: 1-1/4” W: 5/8” T:WT: .02

OK, but has a problem
If you are trying to use this module with a 5 volt Arduino process, it does not work with a digital input. When a detection occurs, the output voltage is only about 2 volts. This is not enough to read. It needs to be at least 2.5 volts. The product 33024-MP works much better.
